May 13, 1965 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Catherine Margaret Riedesel, 87, were held May 12 at the Rochester Methodist church, with the Rev. Glenn Dooley of Iowa City in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Russell D. and Donald Hennings, Kenneth Jehle, Frank Norris Jr., William J. Melson and Ronald Luikart. Mrs. Richard Anderson was vocalist and Mrs. Richard Nelson, organist.

Mrs. Ronald Luikart, Mrs. Milo Carroll and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Voss were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Riedesel died May 10 at a West Branch nursing home after a lingering illness.

The daughter of Hans and Christina Clausen Petersen, she was born March 10,1878 at Husum, Germany and was educated in the schools of Cedar county. She was married to Frank Riedesel at Wheatland Sept. 1, 1909.

They farmed south of Tipton from 1917 to 1945 when they moved to Tipton. She was a member of the Rochester Methodist church and the Rochester W.S.C.S.

She is survived by 2 sons, Elmer and Arnold Hennings of Tipton; a daughter, Mrs. Leonta Conner, West Liberty; 3 brothers, Charles Petersen, Wheatland; Leonard Petersen, Moline, Ill. and Arnold Petersen, Durant; 3 sisters, Mrs. Bertha Mofdhortst, Durant; Mrs. Melinda Paul, Wilton Junction; Mrs. Hulda Pingel, New Liberty, 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Three children preceded her in death.
