Hugo Burmeister, 70, died March 13 at his home in Sunbury following a lengthy illness.

Born Nov. 7, 1894, in Scott county, he was the son of John and Anna Carsten Burmeister. He had been a resident of Sunbury for 25 years.

He married Edna Allmandinger April 3, 1964, in Fairplay, Mo. A painter by trade, he was of the Lutheran faith. He had been a member of the Muscatine Power Boat Club.

Survivors include his wife and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister.

Funeral services were March 16 at West Liberty with Rev. Paul Mueller of the St. Paul's Lutheran church of Bennett officiating. Burial was at the Maysville cemetery.
