Funeral services for Otto Schwitzer, 77, lifelong resident of the Cedar county area, were held Feb. 6 at Durant. Burial was in Inland cemetery at Bennett.

Mr. Schwitzer died Feb. 3 at Mercy hospital in Davenport following an extended illness.

Born June 25, 1887, near Bennett, he was the son of Hans and Dora Schwitzer.

He married Gladys Freeman on April 6, 1923, in Independence. The manager of Mueller Feed and Grain in Durant for 22 years, he retired 2 years ago.

Survivors include his wife; 5 sons, Ray and Leonard Schwitzer, both of Tipton; Alan Garteman, Maquoketa; Everett Postel, Lowden; and Glen Postel, Omaha; and 3 daughters: Mrs. William (Alice) Bond, East Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Arthur (Violet) Kennett, Independence; and Mrs. William (Evelyn) Andrus, Omaha, Nebr.

Also 2 brothers: Herman, Lowden and Sefred, Menno, S. D.; 2 sisters, Mrs. George (Amanda) Garteman, Maquoketa and Mrs. Henry (Katie) Lerrsen, in South Dakota; 34 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, one daughter, one brother, and one sister.
