Funeral services for Mrs. Charles Akers, a former resident of Lowden, were held Dec. 1 at Calamus. She died Nov. 24 at San Diego, Calif.

Mr. and Mrs. Akers lived in Lowden for several years while he was agent for the Chicago and North Western railroad. They moved from Lowden to Calamus. Mrs. Akers also worked in Reinking's grocery in Lowden and the telephone office.

Mrs. Akers was born April 4, 1891 in South Dakota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Harding. She came to Cedar Rapids when a child. She married Charles Akers. She worked as a telephone operator and a bookkeeper.

Surviving are 2 sisters, Mrs. Mary Harder and Mrs. Roberta Brainaird, both of San Diego. She was preceded in death by her husband.
