Ferdinand Carstens, 84, of Durant, died Nov. 26 at the Wilton Nursing Home following an extended illness.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Carstens, he was born June 4, 1880, at Durant. He had been a life resident of Durant.

He married Minnie Feldhahn on Oct. 14, 1911, at Davenport. A rural mail carrier for 40 years, he was a member of the Durant Chamber of Commerce, Letter Carriers Association, German American Society and a charter member of the Knights of Pythias.

Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews in this area. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and two sisters.

Funeral services were Nov. 30 at Durant with burial in the Durant cemetery.
