Warren E. Wharton, 46, a native of Bennett, died in a Veterans hospital after a lingering illness.

Born March 27, 1918, he had lived in Cedar Rapids since 1924. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW post 788.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. David Gray, Iowa City; 2 sons, Michael and Mark Wharton, Cedar Rapids; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Wharton, Tipton, and 3 sisters, Mrs. Walter Timmerman, Apache Junction, Ariz., Mrs. Kenneth Sterner, Indianapolis, Ind. and Mrs. Richard Birkett, Hazel Green, Wis.

Memorial services were held Nov. 28, with burial at Mt. Vernon.
