November 26, 1964 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Barkhurst, 77, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial will be in the South Bethel cemetery.

Pallbearers are Richard and Louis Rochholz, Ted and Marvin McCroskey, Jim DeForest and Hilbert Dice. Mr. and Mrs. George Worsham and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Overman are in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Barkhurst died at her home in Tipton Nov. 23, following a lingering illness.

The daughter of John and Wilmina Fulewider Rochholz, she was born Oct. 25, 1887 at Lime City in Sugar Creek township. She was educated in the Lime City school. She was married to Otis Barkhurst at the South Bethel church Feb. 12, 1907.

Mrs. Barkhurst spent her life in Cedar county.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. C. R. (Fern) Williams, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. L. L. (Bernice) Pilcher, Seaside, Calif.; 3 sons, Wilbur, Tipton; Delmar, Gloucester, Miss., and Oscar, with the armed forces in Germany; a brother, Harry Rochholz, Tipton and 2 granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, a son, 2 sisters and a brother.
