Funeral services for Otto James Svatosch, 78, were held at the Sheets and Son funeral home Sept. 7 with Gordon Smith in charge. Burial was in St. Bridget's cemetery at Nolan settlement.

Pallbearers were Lee and Gary Knutsen, Jim and Robert Malake, Larry McAtee and Don Maher. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Bair and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Caplan were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Svatosch died at the Mt. Vernon Rest home, Mt. Vernon, Sept. 4, after a short illness.

He was born in Cernke, Bohemia, Czechoslovakia May 14, 1886 and was educated in the schools of his native community. He came to the United States Aug. 19, 1912. He was married to Agnes Kohoutek in Toledo Sept. 16, 1916.

They lived in Tama county before coming to the Cedar Bluff area where he farmed until 1958.

He is survived by a son, Stanley, Mt. Vernon; 2 daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Betty) Sterner, Swisher and Mrs. Hans (Tillie) Knutsen, Mt. Vernon; a step-son, Joe Malake, Marion and a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert (Martha) Maher, Clarence; 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, 2 brothers and a sister.
