Walter James Dolan, 71, died at his home in Vinton the morning of July 2, after a lingering illness.
He was born Feb. 5, 1893, at Tipton, the son of Mr. and Mrs. George D. Dolan. He married Lucille E. Phelps at Toledo in 1956.
Mr. Dolan went to Benton county 25 years ago. He was a member of the V.F.W. and George G. Luckey post of the American Legion. He was a veteran of World War I.
He is survived by his wife and a stepson, Donald Randall, Montebello, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. William (Carol) Sellers, and Mrs. Alan (Janice) Bower; two brothers, Harlie, Osage Beach, Mo., and Allen E., Tipton; a sister, Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Hoskins, Lincoln, Nebr., and five grandchildren.
His parents and a sister, Mrs. Jake (Carrie) Lamp, preceded him in death.
Services were held in Vinton July 5 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Donald E. Thrash officiating. Burial was in the Green Mountain cemetery, Green Mountain.
