Mrs. Laura Ruhberg, 71, resident of Durant for 19 years, died June 20, at Mercy Hospital in Davenport following an extended illness.
Funeral services were held at Durant Tuesday, June 23, with Dr. A. C. Proehl of St. Paul's Lutheran church in Davenport officiating. Max Lauser was vocalist, and casket bearers, all nephews of the deceased, were Charles Sothmann, Harvey Wendt, Otto Schack, Lester Voss, and Lawrence and Marvin Beaver. Burial was in Memorial Park cemetery at Davenport.
Mrs. Ruhberg was born Feb. 17, 1893, near Sunbury, the daughter of Henry and Anna Wendt. Dec. 20, 1911 she was united in marriage to Adolph Ruhberg in Davenport. The couple farmed in Scott and Cedar counties until retiring 19 years ago and moving to Durant. Mr. Ruhberg preceded his wife in death in 1961.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Eunice) Arp, Davenport; 3 brothers, Henry Wendt, Sioux Falls, S. D., and Frank and Gus Wendt, both of Davenport; 3 sisters, Mrs. Rose Voss, Tipton, Mrs. Lloyd Beaver, West Liberty, and Mrs. John Sothmann, Davenport; 3 grandsons and one great-grandchild.
Preceding her in death besides her husband, were her parents, one brother, and two sisters.
