June 18, 1964 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Lee Hartley were held June 15 at the Sheets and Son funeral home in Tipton, with the Rev. E. H. Lauer in charge. Burial was in the Red Oak cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Buresh, Fred Luikart, William Tuttle, Sam Hegarty, Earl Siders and Walter Conway. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist and Mrs. Wendell Willer was vocalist. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Luikart were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Hartley died June 13 at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids after an illness of several weeks.

The daughter of Edgar J. and Mary Jane Steel Fowler, she was born March 19, 1889 near Redhouse, W.Va. and was educated in the rural Redhouse school system.

She was married to Walter Hartley near Redhouse in 1906. Mrs. Hartley had been a resident of the Tipton community for more than 55 years.

She is survived by 4 sons, Dale and Harold, Cedar Rapids; Paul, Muscatine and Robert, Bettendorf; 3 daughters Mrs. C. L. (Myrtle) Montgomery, Atalissa; Mrs. Herbert (Dorothy) Carson, Toddville and Mrs. Walter (Edna) Nelsen, Tipton; 2 brothers, J. W. Fowler, Newport Fichey, Fla. and C. B. Fowler, Tipton; 3 sisters, Mrs. Nettie Onstott, Princeton, Minn.; Mrs. Llaura Bowern, Nitor, W. Va. and Mrs. Myrtle Couvert, Redhouse, W. Va.

She was preceded in death by her husband and an infant son, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
