Brit Clark Montgomery, 56, of Maquoketa, lost his battle with numerous health issues and entered eternity on Sunday, September 13, 2020, while at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. All services will be held at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, on Wednesday, September 16, 2020; Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 immediately followed by a Funeral service at 2:00 pm. Family asks that all cards and memorials be mailed c/o Brenda Montgomery, to 22 Harvard Ave, Maquoketa, IA 52060.

Brit, son of Dean and Janet Kay (Terhune) Montgomery, was born on Wednesday, September, 9, 1964 in Rock Island, IL. He graduated from Rock Island High School with the Class of 1982. Brit moved to Tipton in the late summer of 1983, when he helped his family renovate and open Happy Joe’s Pizza in Tipton on October 1, 1983. Brit helped his family run Happy Joe’s until 2006, when he decided to make a change in employment. Brit worked for the Raymond Corporation in West Liberty, Crown Company in Des Moines, IA and enjoyed working as a Fork Lift Mechanic at United Natural Foods Inc. in Iowa City, IA until March of 2019 when health issues forced him to stop working.

1985 was the year Brit found his love of car racing. He raced cars until 1988, when he realized he could no longer afford the sport; he became a “Flagman” and a “Raciever” for various race tracks in Eastern Iowa until August, 2020. Maquoketa Track is where Brit met his wife, Brenda Renee Clark. She was the track photographer and Brit gave her his heart from the minute she said hello. They were married at Trinity Lutheran Church in Tipton, IA on August 30, 2014.

Brit was an identical twin, ordained minister and great ‘conversationalist’. He loved riding motorcycles, working in his garage and spending quality time with his grandkids and family. Even though the last two years were the hardest for him, family will always remember the tremendous amount of love and affection he still showed in spite of not feeling well.

Brit is survived by his wife, Brenda; daughters, Amanda (Kenny) Schmidt of Preston, IA and April Griffin (Danny Christiansen) of Stanwood, IA; sons, Connor Montgomery of Hiawatha, IA and Ryan Montgomery of North Liberty, IA; brothers, Brad (Cherie) Montgomery of Milan, IL and Bart (Nicci) Montgomery of Tipton, IA; nephews, Cody Montgomery, Kyle (Cindy) Montgomery and Taylor Axberg; nieces, Kori (Terry) Bates, Deana (Terry) Nelson, Brooklyn (Dennis) Montgomery and Claire Montgomery; grandchildren, Keylee, Vayda and Rhyker Schmidt and Oaklee Christiansen; and several great nieces and nephews. Brit was preceded in death by his parents, Dean and Janet Montgomery.
