Funeral services for Jack W. Sturdy, 66, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today (Thursday) in the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Ernest H. Lauer in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Donald Rodgers, Donald Willcutt, Raymond Fell, Robert Peck, Herman Roberts and Gale Gisel. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Mr. Sturdy died early March 31 at University hospital in Iowa City after a short illness.

The son of Fran and Minnie Sturdy, he was born Nov. 17, 1897 at Greenfield and came to Tipton from Mt. Vernon in 1934. He was an electrician and served as Tipton light and water superintendent from Jan. 7, 1935, when he replaced M. W. Shupe until April 3, 1950 when he was replaced by Loren F. Carlisle.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. William (Alberta) Moffit, LeClaire; 3 sons, Frank and Keith, Tipton; and Jack, Beverly Shores, Ind.; 14 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Esther) Smith, Greenfield and 3 brothers, George, Greenfield; Fred in Oregon and Dallas in California.

He was preceded in death by his wife Nov. 23, 1942 and a grandson.
