Funeral services for Mrs. R. H. (Bertha) Stoecker, 78, who died Dec. 30 in a Tipton nursing home, were held Jan. 2 in Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, by the Rev. Robert McDanel. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Mrs. Wilbert Mente, Mrs. Walter Brendes, Mrs. Floyd Hansen and Mrs. Edward Conrad sang, and Virginia Meyer was the organist.

Pall bearers were Elmer Steinke, Hugo Gehrls, Leonard Reinking, Louis Steinke, Silvin Klahn and Otto Koch.

Bertha Boettcher, daughter of John and Marie Dohrn Boettcher, was born April 12, 1885, near Lowden. She attended the Lowden schools and was married to Rudolph Stoecker, Oct. 28, 1903 in Zion Evangelical church, Lowden by the late Rev. F. Werning. They lived most of their married lives in Lowden. Mr. Stoecker died Feb. 22, 1953.

Mrs. Stoecker was a member of the Lillis-Deerberg Legion Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors, Zion United Church of Christ and its Women's Fellowship.

She is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Pete (Katie) Baker, Tipton; Mrs. Albert (Mary) Custis, Perry; and Mrs. Arthur (Martha) Klahn, of Cedar Rapids, and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Norma, who died in infancy, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
