Funeral services for Clarence Behrens, 65, will be held at 1 p.m. Jan. 2 at Zion United Church of Christ, following a prayer service in the Behrens home. The Rev. Robert McDanel is in charge. Interment will be in the Lowden cemetery.
Mr. Behrens died Dec. 29 in his home at Lowden.
The son of Julius and Julia Horstmann Behrens, he was born Jan. 31, 1898, near Elwood. He moved to the Lowden vicinity with his parents as a young child and attended the Lowden rural schools.
He was married to Minnie Boedeker of Lowden, Aug. 1, 1925, by the Rev. F. Wolfe in Rock Island, Ill. They spent their married lives in Lowden, where he was a substitute rural mail carried for several years. He last was employed by the F. H. Mueller Feed company in Calamus.
He served with the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of Amvets Post 16 of Lowden and Zion United Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife; 2 sisters, Mrs. George (Martha) Drager, Tipton; and Mrs. Julius (Mae) Meier, Lowden; 5 brothers, Ernest of Clarence; Charles, Mt. Benton, Mont.; Frank, Cherokee; Alvin, Wilton Junction, and Walter, Atalissa.
His parents, one brother and 2 sisters preceded him in death.
