Charles Porter Perkins, 79, of West Branch, died early Dec. 14 at University hospital after an extended illness.

Funeral services were Dec. 16 at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. Charles Haigh officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.

Mr. Perkins was born May 16, 1883, in Carroll county, the son of King and Margaret Armstrong Perkins. He married Bertha E. Stanfield Oct. 23, 1904, at Lake City.

Mr. Perkins farmed in the Nichols area most of his life, retiring and moving to West Branch in 1954.

Survivors include the widow; 2 sons, Kenneth, Aledo, Ill., and Clifford, West Branch; 2 daughters, Mrs. Vern Olmstad, Western Springs, Ill., and Mrs. Raymond Krebs, Davenport; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Several brothers and sisters and a daughter, Ruth, preceded Mr. Perkins in death.
