Funeral services for Alvin Henry Hoffman, 46, were held at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home in Tipton Jan. 10 with Gordon Smith of Clarence in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Donohoe, Stanwood; Keith Fields, Tipton; Glen Kennedy and Lawrence Beaver, West Liberty; Fred Kaufmann, Wilton Junction and Don Davidson, Mechanicsville.

Mrs. Wendell Willer was vocalist, with Mrs. Irma Crawford as organist. Mrs. John Donohoe and Mrs. Lawrence Beaver were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Hoffman died following a heart attack at his farm home southeast of Mechanicsville Jan. 8. He had held a farm sale Jan. 5 to cut down his farm operation because of ill health. He suffered the heart attack while doing chores.

The son of George and Sybil Wilson Hoffman, he was born on a farm near Sutliff Sept. 27, 1915 and attended the rural Atalissa schools. He was married to Maxine Petersen at West Liberty Dec. 12, 1939.

He had farmed near Atalissa, Tipton and Mechanicsville, moving to his present farm 3 years ago.

He is survived by his wife, 3 sons, James, Jerry and Gene, all at home; his parents, George Hoffman, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Sybil Oplinger, South Bend, Ind.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Corder and Mrs. Margaret Hurley, both of South Bend and 2 brothers, Earl and Howard Hoffman, both of Cedar Rapids.
