Funeral services were held Dec. 26 in the Mechanicsville Methodist church for Mrs. Lester Nicoll, 63, who died Dec. 23 in a Cedar Rapids hospital. The Rev. Eugene Miller officiated.

Hattie Cother Clark was born Nov. 2, 1898, the daughter of Harriet and Frank Clark in Arnolds Park. She was graduated from Spirit Lake public school in 1917 and from Iowa State Teachers college in 1919. She taught in the public school at Swea City where she met Mr. Nicoll.

She was married to Lester Nicoll Sept. 7, 1920, and they moved to the family farm near Mechanicsville in 1921. They moved into Mechanicsville in 1953.

Mrs. Nicoll was a member of the Mechanicsville Methodist church, the W.S.C.S. and the Pollyanna Sunday school class. She participated actively in the music of the church for 40 years. She was a member of Busch-Dennis unit, of the American Legion auxiliary and a past president of that organization. She was also a member of the Eu-Cha-Rest Temple No. 68, Daughters of the Nile, Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Nicoll is survived by her husband; 3 daughters, Mrs. Frank (Eleanor Joy) Starr, Cedar Falls; Mrs. Calvin (Esther Pearl) Glenn, Olin; Mrs. Melvin (Norma Jean) Picht, Aberdeen, S.D.; a son, Howard, Riceville; and 10 grandchildren.

She is also survived by 2 brothers, Vernon Clark, Muscatine; and Gerald Clark, Sulphur, La.; and a sister, Mrs. Vernon Meyers, Jefferson. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lily.

Pallbearers were Forest Johnson, Don Puffer, Dr. F. M. Wilson, Howard Rhoads, Arthur Vanderbilt and Everett Ferguson. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
