Funeral services for Mary Margaret France, 85, were held Sunday at the Dye Funeral home with the Rev. Ralph Adamson in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Robert Potter, Jack Hanks, Harold Stager, Marion Ebert, Robert Schroeder and Ronald Emrich. Mrs. Wendell Willer was vocalist, accompanied by Mrs. Larry Miller.

Miss France died Dec. 26 at Lake Worth, Fla., following a heart attack.

The daughter of Ozias and Susan Lucus France, she was born in Tipton Oct. 26, 1876 and spent her entire life in the Tipton community.

She served as secretary in the law offices of her brother, Jim France for many years and was active in Democratic politics in Cedar county, serving as county vice-chairman of the party for many years.

She was a member of the Presbyterian church and its Esther circle. She was also a member of the Pithian Sisters and was a past chief. She traveled widely in the United States.

She is survived by a brother, Art, Englewood, Calif.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Herman Smith, Sibley; Mrs. Catherine Nolder, Dodge City, Kans.; Mrs. Eda Ebert, Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Rua Shapley, Lake Worth, Fla. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Mrs. Deliha Murray and Mrs. Emma Potter and a brother, J. C. France.
