Mrs. Alice Hayslett, 72, a life-time resident of West Branch, died Dec. 23 at her home.

Mrs. Hayslett was born Nov. 2, 1889, in Cedar county, the daughter of John and Mary Brown Carran. Jan. 8, 1913, she was married at West Branch to Edward Hayslett, who died in 1952.

Mrs. Hayslett was a member of the West Branch Methodist church, and the Ruth circle of the church. She was a past treasurer of the Juanita chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Home Social club, the American Legion auxiliary, and for many years was active in the Amvets.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Loyal Hunter, West Liberty and Mary Hayslett, Washington, D.C.; 3 sons, Allen, Cedar Rapids, John James and Edward both of West Branch; a sister, Eleanore Carran, Cedar Rapids; 10 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 26 at the West Branch Methodist church with the Rev. Charles Haigh officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
