Mrs. Paul (Clara) Kemmann, 85, died Dec. 15 in her home at Lowden of a heart condition and stroke. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Dec. 18, in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, following a prayer service in the family home. Burial was in Lowden cemetery.

Pallbearers were John Smeltzer, Ezra Kruckenberg, Silvin Klahn, Hugo Gehrls, Julius Freese and Leo Twachtmann. Mrs. August Malottki and Alma Ernsting were in charge of flowers. The Trinity male chorus sang with Mrs. Lorenz Hoffmeier as organist.

Clara Hoeltje, the daughter of Louie and Marie Sander Hoeltje, was born July 8, 1878, near Lowden. She received her education in Trinity day school and Lowden high school, where she was graduated in 1896. She taught in the Lowden rural schools and was married Oct. 1, 1903, to Paul Kemmann in Lowden.

They lived their entire married lives in Lowden. Mr. Kemmann preceded her in death Dec. 20, 1951. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran church and an honorary member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Lowden.

Survivors are 3 sons: Cyrus and Gerald, Lowden, and Robert, North Ridge, Calif.; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Amanda Love, Silvis, Ill.; 2 brothers, Oscar Hoeltje, Pengilly, Minn., and Hubert Hoeltje, Barbourville, Ky.

Besides her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Esther, in infancy, and a son, Lt. Gilbert Kemmann, killed in action Feb. 20, 1944, and one brother.
