Funeral services for Ewald Meier, 53, were held Dec. 18 in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery at Lowden. The Lillis Deerberg American Legion post had charge of the graveside services.
Pallbearers were Harold Hansen, Walter LaFrenz, Everett Kruckenberg, Julius Freese, Paul Wenndt and Louis Stolte. Mrs. Albert Kelly and Mrs. Paul Kirstein, Jr., were in charge of flowers.
Mr. Meier died Dec. 15 in Veterans hospital, Iowa City. He had been in the hospital for several weeks.
The son of F. H. and Anna Frank Meier, he was born March 2, 1910, at Lowden, and spent most of his life in the Lowden vicinity. He was married to Leona Frahm of Clarence Dec. 28, 1948.
Mr. Meier served for a year in the Civilian Conservation Corps and 4 years in the army. He was also employed by the Chicago and North Western Railroad and was a member of Trinity Lutheran church.
He is survived by his wife, 2 brothers, Harold, Tipton, and Hugo, Clinton; 2 half brothers, Paul and Lewis Meier, Davenport. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
