Funeral services for DeWitt N. (Sy) Perkins, 86, Durant, were held Nov. 26 at Durant. Officiating was the Rev. Richard Anderson of St. Paul's Episcopal church. Casket bearers were Henry Ploen, Victor Schneckloth, Donald Schell and Leonard Leese. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.
Mr. Perkins died Nov. 24 at the Hawker nursing home, West Liberty, following a lengthy illness.
Born Feb. 22, 1877, at Anamosa, he was the son of Lewis and Mary Powell Perkins. July 23, 1900, he was united in marriage to Margaret L. Graham at Olin. The couple lived at Davenport for 35 years, then moved to a farm near Allen's Grove. After 10 years there, they moved to Durant in 1950. Mrs. Perkins preceded her husband in death in 1954.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. L. E. Batten, Davenport, and Mrs. Florence Cooper of California; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Wright of California; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
