Funeral services for Mr. and Mrs. Clare S. Miller, both 78, were held Nov. 30 at the First Methodist church with the Rev. Eugene Miller in charge.

Pallbearers were Atty. Max Werling, Atty. James Casterline, Wayne Miller, LaVerne Suchomel, Atty. Edward Kemp and Eugene Moore. Honorary pallbearers were Roy Bowman, Earl Escher, Henry Walters, Jack Spear, Dr. H. J. Harris and F. E. Nebergall. Mrs. Wayne Miller, Mrs. Max Werling, Mr. and Mrs. D. O. Nelson, Mrs. Eugene Moore, Mrs. H. J. Harris and Mrs. J. F. Casterline were in charge of flowers.

Mrs. Wendell Willer, accompanied by Mrs. Irma Crawford, sang "My Faith Looks Up To Thee."

Mr. Miller died early Thanksgiving day at Mercy hospital in Cedar Rapids where he had been taken the day before.

The son of M. H. and Dolly Sheldon Miller, he was born in Tipton April 29, 1885. He was graduated from Tipton high school in 1902 and from Cornell College in 1906.

He was married to Winifred Warren in Mt. Vernon in July, 1909. They celebrated their golden wedding in 1959.

Mr. Miller was a member of the First Methodist church, the Masonic lodge, The Tipton Rotary club, and was one of the founders of the Tipton Golf and Country club. He served on the Cedar county fair board for many years and the state and national fair managers associations. He also served on the Tipton library board.

The son of a prominent Tipton businessman, he became an abstractor and insuranceman and was in business for more than 40 years. He sold his abstracting firm to Ed Kemp in 1957, but continued to maintain an office above Nelson Hardware until the time of his death.

Mr. and Mrs. Miller, are survived by a daughter, Dorothy. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Charles, Sept. 7, 1913.

Mrs. Miller died Nov. 29 in St. Luke's hospital where she had been a patient for 2 weeks and had undergone surgery.

Winifred Edith, daughter of Charles N. and Elizabeth Sturgis Warren, was born on a farm near Mt. Vernon June 21, 1885. She graduated from Mt. Vernon high school and studied music at Cornell college.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the Methodist church, the W.S.C.S., the P.E.O. sisterhood, which last April honored her as a 50-year member, the Searchlight club, Eastern Star, the Tipton Woman's club of which she was past president.

Besides the daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Miller is survived by 3 sisters, Mrs. Martha Kelley of Webster Groves, Mo., Mrs. Irene DuBoise of Long Beach, Calif., and Helen Warren of Cedar Rapids; and a brother, Harry S. Warren, of Chicago, Ill., numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and an older sister, Mrs. Edna Travis.
