Rites were held Nov. 2 at Wilton Junction for Fred (Fritz) Beeth, 88, resident of Durant for 26 years, who died Oct. 31 at West Liberty after a brief illness.

The Rev. Fred Rolf of Rock Island officiated at the services, with burial at Durant cemetery.

Born Dec. 28, 1875, at Holstein, Germany, he was married to Doris Knees Nov. 2, 1900, in Germany and they came to the United States in 1910 and settled in the Durant community. They farmed in Cedar county until retirement 26 years ago.

Surviving are his wife; 3 sons, Ernest, Durant; Hans, Wilton Junction, and Walter, Davenport; a daughter, Mrs. John (Velma) Heinrichs, Durant; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 3 daughters, a son and 2 grandchildren.
