7 November 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Dewey Rhatigan, 65, a pharmacist in Clarence for 34 years, will be held at the Chapman Funeral home in Clarence at 1:30 p.m. Friday with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery at Monticello. Rhatigan died in a Monticello hospital Tuesday afternoon.

Funeral services for Dewey George Rhatigan, 65, were held Nov. 8 in Clarence with Dr. C. W. Ebbert officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery at Monticello with Masonic services conducted by Gordon Smith.

Pallbearers were Lester Kelly, Melvin Hasselbusch, Raymond Kreinbring, Henry Thies, Wayne Saunders and Grover Penningroth. Dr. J. B. Lane was an honorary pallbearers. Mrs. Robert Joslin was organist.

Mr. Rhatigan died Nov. 5 at a Monticello hospital where he had been a patient for a day. He had been a patient at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, for several weeks, and after a week at home, was taken to the Monticello hospital.

The son of Thomas and Flora Wenger Rhatigan, he was born Sept. 20, 1898 in Monticello and came to Clarence as a druggist in 1929 where he had owned and operated the Rhatigan Drug store since that time.

He married Edna Eiler at Monticello June 21, 1930. He was a member of the Iowa Pharmaceutical association, Mt. Hope Lodge A.F. & A.M., the Clarence Commercial club and St. John's United Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jack, Iowa City; 2 grandsons; 4 brothers, James, Clarence, Sam and Irville, all of Monticello; a sister, Mrs. Emma Orr, of Michigan. His parents, 2 sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
