Dr. W. J. Kopsa, Cedar county medical examiner, said Monday noon that death of Kermit Strackbein, 32, Lowden, was due to multiple, self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Dr. Kopsa reached his decision after a 2-day investigation by himself and Sheriff Richard Barden. Barden said that all of the evidence indicated suicide.

Services for Strackbein were held at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at Zion United Church of Christ with burial in the Lowden cemetery.

Kermit Strackbein was born at Lowden, March 23, 1931, the son of Francis and Lydia Conrad Strackbein. He received his education in the Lowden schools and was graduated from Lowden high school. He served in the navy and was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ.

Services were held at the United Church of Christ Oct. 7 with the Rev. Mr. Otte officiating. Mrs. Lane Strackbein was organist. Pallbearers were Roland Buck, Lewis and Mearl Strackbein, David Conrad, Hubert Gade and Henry Niermeyer. Mrs. Larry Spies, Mrs. Leroy Boettger and Leona Strackbein were in charge of flowers.

He is survived by his parents, 2 sisters, Mrs. Jacque (Edith) Sterenberg, Muscatine, and Mrs. Gerald (Faith) Hein, Marion; 2 brothers, Reuben, Lowden and Kent, Clarence, and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. D. W. Conrad, Lowden.
