Sister Mary Catherine Anne, CHM, 40, a native of West Branch, died of an apparent heart attack while attending a concert in Christ the King chapel, St. Ambrose College, Davenport, Sept. 29.

She was chairman of the Marycrest College department of music.

A member of the staff at Marycrest College since 1944, Sister Mary Catherine Anne was appointed chairman of the music department last year.

The former Catherine Anne Ruppenkamp was born in West Branch.

Graduating from Marycrest College, she received her master's degree from the University of Iowa and was working on her doctor's degree at the time of her death.

Sister Mary Catherine Anne took her vows in 1943 at Ottumwa.

A Solemn Requiem Mass was held Oct. 1 in Sacred Heart Cathedral at Davenport, with Sister Mary Catherine's brother, the Rev. Raymond Ruppenkamp, as celebrant.

A Solemn Requiem mass was recited Oct. 2 in the chapel of the Magnificat at Ottumwa Heights College, Ottumwa.

Burial was in Mt. Olivet cemetery, Ottumwa Heights.

Survivors include her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur B. Ruppenkamp, West Branch; 7 sisters: Margaret, West Branch; Patricia, St. Louis, Mo.; Ruth, Peoria, Ill.; Theresa, Clinton; Mrs. William Long, Peoria, Ill.; Mrs. Francis Greaber, Memphis, Tenn.; and Mrs. Ralph Hobt, Chariton; and a brother, Fr. Ruppenkamp, St. Mary's Catholic church, Clinton.
