15 August 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's church, Wilton Junction, Aug. 12 for August Caes, 49, of 3 1/2 miles northeast of Durant. Burial was at St. James cemetery, Toronto.

Mr. Caes was found dead Friday of self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to Scott county coroner Dr. Perkins.

He is survived by his wife and 10 children. The wife is the former Alice Timmsen, whom he married Jan. 4, 1941, at St. James church in Toronto.

The children surviving are sons August Walter, Kenneth, Richard, Johnny and Tommy, all at home, and daughters Mrs. Charles (Veronica) Welch, Florence and Nancy of Davenport and Suzanne and Julianne at home.

He was born Oct. 21, 1913, at Rockwell, Iowa, the son of Domien and Marie Caes. He farmed near Oxford Junction for 4 years before moving to the Bennett and Durant vicinity. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church, Wilton Junction.

Other survivors include his father, Domien Caes, Wheatland; 3 brothers, Joseph and George, Baldwin, and Charles, Toronto; 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Marty and Mrs. Harold (Matilda) Fisher, Wheatland and Mrs. Logan (Agnes) Marr, Maquoketa.

Preceding him in death were his mother and one brother.
