Funeral services for Forrest Fields, 75, were held June 24 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Raymon Ferguson in charge. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Raymond Maurer, Max Crawford, C. H. Leabhart, Ernest Werling, J. D. Cline and Wallace Wingert. Mrs. Wendell Willer was vocalist and Mrs. Erma Crawford, organist. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Waugh and Dr. and Mrs. J. D. Ramsey were in charge of flowers. There was a flag presentation at the cemetery by the Tipton American Legion post.

Mr. Fields died June 21 at Veterans hospital in Iowa City after a long illness. He had been in failing health for more than 6 years.

Forrest Filson Fields, son of William R. and Hattie Filson Fields, was born in Tipton Aug. 26, 1887 and received his education in the Tipton community. He was married to Frieda Werling in Chicago, Ill., June 27, 1917.

A veteran of World War I, he served with Co. A of the 332nd Tank Corps. He was a member of the Garey Whalen Post of the American Legion in Tipton.

A lifelong resident of the Tipton community, he was engaged in millwright manufacturing.

He is survived by his wife; 6 sons, Henry W., Tipton; Robert C., Downers Grove, Ill.; John F., Webster City; Richard H., Tipton; Keith D., Tipton and James F., Cedar Falls; 3 daughters, Mrs. Charles (Mary) Hammers, Salinas, Calif.; Mrs. John (Joann) Edge, Baxter and Carol, Tipton; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Penningroth, Whitney Point, N.Y.; 21 grandchildren a niece and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by a brother, a sister and a granddaughter.
