Funeral services for John Mathias Lang, 78, were held June 9 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. Edward F. Collins in charge. Laura Geller was organist and Mrs. Joe Shima was in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were Edgar Hinton, Lloyd Wood, Joe Shima, A. A. Petersen, Ed Skladzien and Floyd Rife. Burial was in St. Mary's cemetery.

Mr. Lang died June 7 at Tipton, following an extended illness.

The son of Albert and Caroline Sprenger Lang, he was born Nov. 4, 1884 in Blairstown. He was married to Lena Lydia Riedesel Aug. 2, 1911 in Tipton. Mrs. Lang died Jan. 21, 1953.

Mr. Lang spent his lifetime in the Tipton community and was a retired railroad employee. He served in the Iowa National Guard.

He is survived by 2 sons, Raymond, Des Moines and Francis, Tipton; a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Florence) Spence, Bellflower, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Bell, Tipton; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
