February 19, 1892 - The Clarence Sun

Lucy Remington was born in Bennington, Vt., June 12, 1812, and moved with her parents to western New York in 1817. She was converted when 15 years of age at a camp meeting at Livonia. This was at a time when Methodism was not very popular in that part of the country but she had a strong love for that church and, although she met with some opposition, united therewith after a few years. From then to the day of her death she was always faithful and true to the church and Christianity. She was married in 1830 to Mr. Chancy Bailey who died in 1865. After a few years, together with three children, she moved to Rochester, N.Y. Later she with her son, Geo. W. Bailey, and family, moved to Chicago and united with the Western Avenue M.E. church. In 1886 she came to Lowden, where she has since resided. She calmly fell asleep with the words, "I am going to Jesus" on her lips Sunday morning, Feb. 7, 1892 at the home of her son-in-law, P. Perrin in Lowden. She was the mother of six children, three of whom have preceded her to heaven. She leaves also a host of friends. Thus passes from conflict to triumph one who was loving and brave, a true wife, an affectionate mother and a noble woman.
