Our people were shocked to learn of the death of Mr. Ira P. Coliver which occurred at his home near Sac City last Sunday. Deceased will be remembered as a former resident of this vicinity, having moved from here to Sac county in March 1881 where he prospered as a farmer possessing at his death of a farm of 300 acres, well stocked. He was born in Canada April 27th 1830, coming here with his parents in 1850. He was married Nov. 8th, 1865 to Barbara Hancock, who, together with five children, mourn the death of a husband and father. The remains were brought here Tuesday night, accompanied by the widow and two children and Mr. Gabe Coliver, of Dunlap, and in accordance with the wish of the deceased and Occidental Lodge, A.F.& A.M. of Sac City, were met by the members of Mt. Hope Lodge, of this place, and laid to rest by the fraternity in the family lot here, the exercises occurring at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the home of Frank Coliver brother of the deceased, Revs. Downing and Davis assisting in the exercises.
