Funeral services for Eldie Charles Freese, 62, were held May 19 at the United Church of Christ in Clarence with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Pallbearers were Stanley Rose, Marvin Evers, Leonard Schaefer, Lavern Bergmann, Howard McClellan and Ellis Stonerook. The male quartet sang, with Antoinette Rix as organist. Mrs. Richard Hulse, Mrs. Leonard Schaefer and Mrs. Ernest Wulff were in charge of flowers.

The Chapman funeral home was in charge with Masonic rites at the gravesite.

Mr. Freese died May 16 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids after an illness of several months.

The son of William and Emma Reinking Freese, he was born in Scott county Nov. 22, 1900 and was married to Gladys Kammeyer at Rock Island, Ill., Jan. 31, 1924.

A resident of the Clarence area for 55 years, he was a farmer and cattle feeder.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Baxter, Wellman; a daughter, Mrs. Daniel (Beverly) Nikolic, Santa Monica, Calif.; 4 grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Wayne (Vera) White, Davenport and Alberta Freese, Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Mt. Hope Lodge No. 501, A.F. & A.M., DeMolay Consistory and Kaabe Shrine.
