Funeral services for Mrs. Emma L. Goldsmith, 79, were held at St. John's church at Clarence April 27, with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Pallbearers were Fred Evers, Karl Krafock, Robert Miller, Melvin Riedesel, Melvin Clemmens and Freeman Frahm. The mixed quartet, with Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch as organist, provided music. Mrs. Howard Claney and Mrs. Martin Kruckenberg were in charge of flowers. The Chapman funeral home was in charge.

Mrs. Goldsmith died April 25 at University hospital in Iowa City, after an illness of about a week.

The daughter of Henry and Lisetti Pruess, she was born in Clarence Oct. 26, 1883 and attended the Clarence schools. She was married to Fred L. Goldsmith Feb. 23, 1905.

The couple farmed in the Clarence and Stanwood communities until retiring to Clarence. Mr. Goldsmith died March 28, 1963.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild and the Royal Neighbors of America.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Art (Wanda) Ibsen and Mrs. John (Viola) Kreinbring, both of Clarence and a son, Herbert, also of Clarence; 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; also a sister, Mrs. Elsie Kroemer, Clarence.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Elwood; an infant daughter; a sister and 2 brothers.

Her brother, Ben Pruess, learned the printing trade under the late Charles A. Seaton of the Clarence Sun and was later publisher of several Iowa newspapers.
