Ray Chapman, 51, a retired farmer and past president of the Cedar county farm union, committed suicide in a barn at his home Sunday night by hanging. His body was discovered by his wife, who attributed his act to despondency over ill health. Mr. Chapman was born in Cedar county, Oct. 7, 1885. He leaves the widow; one son, Paul; three brothers, Frank, C. C., and Robert Chapman, all of Tipton and four sisters, Mrs. William Christian, Mrs. C. A. Nebergall and Mrs. T. Straub, all of Tipton and Mrs. John Whitmer of Cosby, Mo.
