23 May 1890 - The Clarence Sun

As announced last week, the funeral service over the remains of John Nott Vanderpool occurred Sunday morning at the Presbyterian church, Rev. Downing officiating, a large congregation attending. Deceased was born Feb. 27th, 1838, in Duanesburg, N.Y. He was married to Jennette McCallum Dec. 26th, 1866. He came to Clarence May 10th, 1867, where, with his family, he has ever since resided. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church since March 4th, 1870, Rev. Ed. B. Cousins being pastor at that time. Last October Mr. Vanderpool went to Chicago to undergo an operation for sarcoma, and during the seven months since has been confined to his bed having also been ill nearly a year previous to that time. His sickness has been a great burden for his wife to bear, he being almost a constant care, yet she bore up under the task with remarkable fortitude. He carried an insurance policy of $2,000 in the Modern Woodmen of America.
