28 March 1890 - The Clarence Sun

DIED--At the home of his parents, in Clarence, Thursday morning, March 27th, 1890, Freddy Decker, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. Decker, aged 6 years, 5 months and 15 days.

Perhaps no recent death has awakened greater sympathy in the community than that above recorded. Freddy was a universal favorite his bright and witty answers winning for him friends everywhere. Only two weeks ago he was taken down with sickness and no fears were entertained of his recovery, but Monday night an alarming change took place in his condition and although all was done that the united skill of two good physicians could command, which was willingly put into execution by the afflicted parents and anxious friends, he did not recover from his critical condition and the end came about three o'clock yesterday morning. The funeral occurs at 10 o'clock to day from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Downing officiating, followed by burial at the Valley Church cemetery. The parents are buoyed up in their affliction by the sympathy of hosts of friends who are ministering to their aid and comfort in every way possible.
