Mrs. Mae Pierce, 82, died at 4:30 a.m. Jan. 31 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fern Kohlscheen at West Branch, following a long illness.

The funeral was held Feb. 2 at the Tipton Bible church with Pastor Kenneth Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mrs. Pierce was born May 4, 1880, at Shippensburg, Pa., the daughter of Joseph and Anna Brandt Long. Her marriage to Will Pierce took place January 14, 1904, at Clarence. The couple farmed northeast of Tipton, later moving to West Branch.

Mrs. Pierce was a member of the Women's Christian Temperance union and the Tipton Bible church.

Survivors include 2 daughters, Mrs. Kohlscheen and Mrs. Ethel Williams, West Branch; 3 sons, Forrest, Cedar Rapids; Mearl, Centerdale, and Harold, Tipton; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Catherine Sleater, White Lake, S.D., and 2 brothers, Oscar Long of Cedar Rapids and David Long of Algona.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1955, 3 brothers and a sister.
