Funeral services for Mrs. John C. (Pauline) Petersen, 71, who died Jan. 9 in her home in Lowden of a heart ailment, were held Jan. 12 in Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, following a prayer service in the family home. The Rev. Edwin Otte was in charge. Burial was in Lowden cemetery. The Legion Auxiliary had charge of the graveside rites. A ladies quartet sang, with Mrs. Lane Strackbein, organist. Mrs. Larry Woods, Mrs. Warren Stolte and Mrs. Donald Boettcher had charge of the flowers.

Pallbearers were William Kahl, Otto Stolte, Louis Gade, Albert Licht, Erwin Steinke and W. E. Bowstead.

Pauline Schlueter, the daughter of Dick and Dorothea Miller Schlueter, was born Feb. 14, 1891, on a farm near Bennett. She received her education in rural schools and was married Feb. 19, 1914 to John C. Petersen of Big Rock. They farmed in the Big Rock, Bennett and Clarence vicinity until 1928 when they moved into their present home in Lowden.

Mrs. Petersen was a lifelong member of Zion United Church of Christ and a member of its Women's Guild. She was also a member of Lillis-Deerberg Legion Post Auxiliary.

Survivors are her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Fred (Helen) Benhart, Oxford Junction; a son, Raymond, Lowden; 2 grandchildren; a brother, Julius Schlueter, and a sister, Mrs. Louis (Tillie) Stolte, both of Lowden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, a brother and a grandson.
