March 24, 1893 - The Clarence Sun

Lydia Metz was born in Northampton county, Pennsylvania, the 18th day of April 1819; she was married to George Warner the 4th day of August, 1840. In early life she became a member of the German Reform church. In 1850 she removed with her husband and family to Illinois and settled in Stephenson county. Her husband died in August, 1856, leaving her with three small children. In 1874 she removed with her eldest son, Mr. C. F. Warner, to Cedar county, Iowa, where they remained until two years ago, when they became residents of Chicago. During the last two years of her life she suffered much from illness, and finally yielded to the advancing disease of slow paralysis, Sunday morning, March 19th, aged 74 years, beside the son, at whose home she died. Her son, T. J. Warner, of Grundy Center, Iowa, and Mrs. Mary Metz, of Stephenson county, Illinois, remain to mourn her loss. Brief services were conducted at her son's residence in Chicago, previous to the removal of the remains for burial in Babb's Grove cemetery, Stephenson county, Illinois.
