17 January 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Fred C. Daehn, 80, Lowden, died suddenly of a heart attack about 3:15 p.m. Jan. 14 at his home after having returned from downtown Lowden. Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, with burial in the Lutheran cemetery. The Rev. Theo. J. Eickelberg will officiate.

Mr. Daehn was born Dec. 19, 1882, east of Lowden, the son of Herman and Hannah Heinemann Daehn. He received his education in Trinity day school and attended Lowden high school.

He was married Jan. 25, 1912 to Anna Wenndt, Lowden, by the late Rev. J. H. Brammer in Trinity Lutheran church. They farmed for 21 years northwest of Lowden, 11 years southeast of Toronto and retired in 1944 and moved into their home in Lowden.

Mr. Daehn was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran church and served as an elder in the church, and also as a trustee of the Lutheran cemetery committee.

He is survived by his widow, 3 sons, Herman, Martin and Gerhardt Daehn, all of the Toronto-Wheatland area, a daughter, Mrs. Roland (Esther) Dickey, Davenport; 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 4 sisters, Mrs. Fred (Celia) Clemens, Mrs. William (Lottie) Bicknese, Mrs. Louis (Freda) Sander and Mrs. Otto (Alma) Stolte, all of Lowden; 2 brothers, Ben, LaPorte City, and August, Lowden.

Preceding him in death were a daughter, a grandchild, 3 brothers and a sister.

24 January 1963 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Fred Daehn, 80, were held Jan. 17 in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, following a prayer service in the family home with the Rev. Theo. J. Eickelberg officiating. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.

The church male chorus sang, accompanied by Mrs. Lorenz Hoffmeier.

Pallbearers were Ferd Hein, Lorenz Hoffmeier, William Schluter, Ernest Proesch, Erwin Griesbach and Ezra Kruckenberg.

Mrs. Arnold Koch and Mrs. Arnold Sobotka had charge of the flowers.
