Lida L. Fowlie, daughter of David and Lovisa Root Clay, was born January 31, 1882 in Jones county. She died suddenly at her home the morning of Friday, March 23rd, 1962, having reached the age of 80 years, 1 month and 22 days.

She was married to J. W. Fowlie on September 16, 1903 in Jones County and was a life-long resident of the Stanwood community.

Two sons were born to Mr. and Mrs. Fowlie, Gerald of Oakdale and Mearl of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by three grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Bertha Ramey, Winters, Calif.; Anna Sawyer, Cedar Rapids and Leona Rohwedder of Olin.

She was a member of the Stanwood Methodist Church, Idelle Chapter No. 491, O.E.S., and the Royal Neighbors.

Funeral services were held at the Stanwood Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 26th, 1962 with the Rev. Gordon Vickey in charge. The music was furnished by Mrs. John Swift, soloist and Mrs. Edward Speer, organist. In charge of floral tributes were Mrs. Willis McGuire and Mrs. Arthur Koering. Pallbearers were Willis McGuire, Arthur Koering, Wilbur Lutz, Clarence Chamberlain, Paul Gadke and Glenn Tenley.

Interment was made in the Stanwood Cemetery where graveside rites by Idelle Chapter No. 491, O.E.S. was held.
