7 December 1961 - The Tipton Conservative

Funeral services for Albert Floyd Martin, 59, were held Dec. 2 at the Sheets and Dahn funeral home with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Pallbearers were Wayne Chapman, Gale Gisel, Edwin Klinkkammer, Chalmer Keller, Joe Bishop and Ronald Collison. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hayslett were in charge of flowers. Mrs. Wendell Willer was vocalist and Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist.

Martin's body was found Saturday morning in a barn on the Guy Maurer farm south of Tipton on old Highway 38. He did not report for work at the cheese factory and a search was started. Martin had kept riding horses at the Maurer farm and he had apparently gone there early Saturday morning and taken his life.

The son of Henry and Amelia Kleppe Martin, he was born in Cedar county Jan. 31, 1902 and spent his life in the Tipton area, working as a laborer.

He is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Dewey (Lorraine) Petersen, Tipton, and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Rickard, West Branch; 3 sons, Lavelle and Ronald, Tipton and Carl, living in Florida; 3 brothers, Maynard and Walter, Tipton and Louis, Wilton Junction and a sister, Mrs. Otto (Hilda) Schroeder, Wilton Junction, and 7 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
