Charles W. Pearson, 83, retired West Branch farmer, died Aug. 31 in an Iowa City nursing home after a long illness.

Mr. Pearson had farmed his entire life in the West Branch area. He retired in 1945.

He was born April 13, 1878, at Springdale, the son of Lycurgus and Lucy Eggleston Pearson. He married the former Nellie D. Burnett at West Liberty Feb. 25, 1904.

Mr. Pearson was a member of the West Branch Methodist church.

Surviving are the widow; a son, Melvin, West Branch; a twin brother, Henry Pearson, West Branch, and another brother, Alva, Pasadena, Calif.; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Sept. 2 at the West Branch Methodist church with burial in the West Branch cemetery.
