Orville Faas, 60, who farmed north of West Branch died May 6 at Mercy hospital, Iowa City, after a long illness. He had lived in the West Branch community for the past 10 years.

Born Oct. 1, 1900, in Iowa County, he was a son of Peter and Emma Keller Faas, and was married Aug. 25, 1920, at Marengo to Lula Gerard.

Survivors include his widow, 3 sons, James, Hiawatha, Melvin, Cedar Rapids, and Gene, at home. Also surviving are 4 sisters, Mrs. Alma Schaffner, Millersburg; Mrs. Alta Lacy, North English; Mrs. Olga Cram, Lacrosse, Wis., and Mrs. Vera Meyer, Anamosa. One sister preceded him in death.
