Funeral services for Herald J. Eves, 66, were held March 28 at the Methodist church with the Rev. A. C. Long in charge. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Mrs. Eugene Hancock was organist and Mrs. Wendell Willer, vocalist.

Pallbearers were Edward and John Voss and Lester Chapman, Atalissa; Leonard Voss, Joe Conway and Merle Highly.

Mr. Eves died at 5:40 a.m. March 26 at Veterans Administration hospital in Iowa City where he had been a patient since April 4, 1960. He had been in ill health for several years and had undergone surgery numerous times during the last year.

Herald Isadore Eves was born near Millville, Columbia county, Pennsylvania, Sept. 17, 1894. His mother died when he was 11. He came to Cedar county as a farm worker when he was 20. He also attended business college in Davenport.

He was married to Adeline M. Lorenzen, daughter of Herman and Carolyn Lorenzen at Springdale Feb. 20, 1918.

He served in World War I as a cook and baker. He entered service in July, 1918, with the largest group to leave Cedar county in World War I.

Upon his discharge from service he returned to farming. Mr. and Mrs. Eves farmed until 1948 when they moved to Tipton. He worked as a carpenter until he became ill.

He is survived by his wife, 4 children, Kenneth, Davenport; Eugene, Tipton; Mrs. Richard (Carolyn)) Hinty, Springdale and Mrs. Robert (Betty) Baker, Davenport; 7 grandchildren; a brother, Paul; a sister, Leota, and a great aunt, all living in Pennsylvania.

He was a member of the Methodist church, Garey-Whalen post of the American Legion and the Masonic lodge.
