John F. Burch, 79, retired operator of a Springdale service station, died Saturday evening in a Tipton nursing home.

Mr. Burch operated the service station from 1930 until about 2 years ago, when he retired.

He was born in Indiana, the son of Thomas and Susan Burch, and married Mattie Morton in that state.

He was a member of the Springdale Methodist church.

Survivors include the widow; 2 sisters, Mrs. Eva Swearingen, Mercer, Wis.; and Mrs. Etta Snyder, Bradford, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother.

Funeral services were Dec. 6 at the Springdale Methodist church with the Rev. L. E. Bauman officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
