Funeral services for Louie W. Gehrls, 78, were held Nov. 18 in Zion Evangelical and Reformed church in Lowden. The Rev. Edwin Otte officiated, with burial in the Lowden cemetery.

Mr. Gehrls died Nov. 15 in the Utopia Nursing home in Tipton, where he had lived for 3 years.

The church quartet sang, accompanied by Neva Mess. Mrs. Raldo Schnack and Mrs. Earl Fick had charge of flowers. Pallbearers were Hugo, Edwin, Harry, Raymond and Joey Gehrls and Art Ropa.

Mr. Gehrls was born May 9, 1882, near Lowden, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Gehrls. He attended the rural schools and was baptized and confirmed in the Zion church. He never married.

He lived with his parents until the death of his mother. He made his home with his sister, Mrs. Minnie Dircks at Columbus Junction until about 3 years ago when he came to Tipton.

He is survived by his twin brother, Carl, Lowden and his sister, Mrs. Dircks. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
