Jens J. Thompson, 73, retired West Branch farmer, died at Mercy hospital at Iowa City early Oct. 30 after a brief illness.

Mr. Thompson was born in Denmark Feb. 4, 1887, the son of Anders and Dorthea Thompson and came to the United States in 1909.

Jan. 4, 1913, he married the former Thyra Jensen at Waukegan, Ill., and they farmed near West Branch for many years before retiring and moving to town in 1945.

Mr. Thompson was a member of Bethany Lutheran church.

Survivors include his widow, 3 sons, Donald, West Branch; Floyd, Iowa City; and Wilfred, West Liberty; 4 grandchildren; and 3 brothers and a sister in Denmark.

Funeral services were Nov. 1 at Bethany Lutheran church with the Rev. L. A. Kirkegaard officiating. Burial was in the West Branch cemetery.
